- 15 Chili Peppers adjust to taste
- 4 cloves Garlic
- 1/2 cup white Vinegar
- 1/4 cup Olive oil
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Paprika optional, for colour
- 1 tsp Lemon juice optional, for tang
1. Prepare the Chili Peppers
Remove the stems from the chili peppers, and deseed them if you prefer a milder sauce.
2. Blend the Ingredients
Place the chili peppers, garlic cloves, white vinegar, olive oil, salt, paprika (if using), and lemon juice (if using) in a blender or food processor.
Blend until you achieve a smooth and vibrant Piri-Piri sauce.
3. Cook the Sauce
Pour the blended mixture into a saucepan and heat it over low to medium heat.
Stir occasionally and simmer for about 10 minutes. This will help meld the flavors and reduce the sharpness of the garlic.
4. Cool and Store
Allow the Piri-Piri sauce to cool to room temperature.
Transfer it to a clean glass jar or bottle for storage.
5. Serve and Enjoy
Piri-Piri sauce is a versatile condiment that can be used to spice up grilled chicken, seafood, or vegetables. Drizzle it over your favourite dishes and enjoy the bold flavours of Portugal.
- Adjust the number of chili peppers to control the level of spiciness. More peppers mean more heat!
- Store your Piri-Piri sauce in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
