Equipment

  • Grinder
  • Coffee maker or French press
  • Filter or filter basket
  • Kettle
  • Timer
  • Coffee mug
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • Fresh coffee beans
  • Sugar or Sweetener optional
  • Filtered Water

Instructions

  • Start with fresh coffee beans. Grind them just before brewing for maximum freshness.
  • Measure 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds per 6 ounces of water, adjusting to taste.
  • Boil water using a kettle and let it cool for a minute, reaching about 200°F (93°C).
  • Pre-wet your filter in the filter basket to eliminate any paper taste.
  • Add coffee grounds to the filter or French press.
  • Pour hot water over the grounds in a circular motion, ensuring all grounds are saturated. For a French press, add the lid without pressing down yet.
  • Start your timer and let the coffee bloom for 30 seconds. This allows gases to escape.
  • After blooming, continue to pour water over the coffee in a circular motion.
  • For a drip coffee maker, let the brewing process complete. For a French press, steep for 4 minutes.
  • Once brewing or steeping is done, serve your perfect coffee in your favourite mug.

Notes

  • Use freshly roasted beans and grind them just before brewing.
  • Measure coffee and water accurately for consistency.
  • Maintain your coffee maker or French press in clean and pristine condition.
  • Experiment with different types of coffee beans and brewing times to find your ideal flavour profile.
