Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 star anise
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg freshly grated if possible
  • Brandy or orange liqueur for an extra kick Optional

  • Combine Ingredients:

  • Add honey or sugar, orange slices, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and nutmeg.
  • Warm Over Low Heat:
  • Heat the mixture over low heat, ensuring it doesn't boil.
  • Let it simmer gently for at least 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Optional Kick:
  • If desired, add a splash of brandy or orange liqueur for an extra layer of warmth.
  • Strain and Serve:
  • Using a ladle, strain the mulled wine to remove the spices and orange slices.
  • Pour the warm mulled wine into mugs or heatproof glasses.
  • Garnish (Optional):
  • Garnish with a fresh orange slice or a cinnamon stick for a festive touch.

Notes

  • Use a mid-range red wine; it doesn't need to be expensive.
