Equipment

  • Kettle or pot
  • Tea infuser or teapot
  • Teacup or mug
  • Timer
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Quality tea leaves or tea bags black, green, herbal, or your choice
  • 1 cup Fresh, filtered water

Instructions

  • Boil fresh, filtered water in a kettle or pot. The ideal temperature varies based on the type of tea (e.g., 212°F/100°C for black tea, 180°F/82°C for green tea).
  • Preheat your teapot or teacup by rinsing it with hot water. This ensures your tea stays warm.
  • Measure the right amount of tea leaves or place a tea bag into your tea infuser.
  • Pour the hot water over the tea leaves or tea bag. Use about 1 teaspoon of loose tea leaves per cup or follow the tea bag instructions.
  • Set a timer to steep your tea. Times vary depending on the type of tea, but generally, black tea requires 3-5 minutes, green tea 2-3 minutes, and herbal teas up to 7 minutes. Adjust to taste.
  • Remove the tea leaves or tea bag promptly once steeping time is complete to prevent over-steeping, which can result in a bitter taste.
  • If desired, add sweeteners like honey or sugar, or a splash of milk to taste.
  • Stir gently, and enjoy your perfect cup of tea.

Notes

  • Use fresh, cold, filtered water to prevent impurities affecting the taste.
  • Quality tea leaves make a difference; experiment with various tea varieties.
  • Pay attention to steeping times, as over-steeping or under-steeping can affect the flavour.
  • Adjust the sweetness, milk, or creamer to match your preferences.
  • Explore and savour the diverse world of teas, from classic black and green to herbal infusions.
