  • 1 cup Double Cream
  • 8 ounces Mascarpone Cheese
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups vanilla extract cooled

  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings optional

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until the mixture becomes pale and slightly thick.
  • Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract, and continue to mix until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until it’s smooth and airy.
  • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the brewed espresso or coffee and place them in the bottom of your serving dish or glasses to create a layer.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  • Add another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, allowing the flavours to meld and the dessert to set.
  • Before serving, dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes

  • Use brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled to room temperature, for the authentic coffee flavour in Tiramisu.
  • For a kid-friendly version, you can omit the coffee and use cocoa as a replacement for dipping the ladyfingers.
  • Tiramisu is even better the day after, as it allows the flavours to meld, making it a fantastic make-ahead dessert for special occasions.
