Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water for dough
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast for dough
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour for dough
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for dough
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt for dough
  • 1 tsp sugar for dough
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes For Sauce
  • 1 tsp olive oil For Sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced For Sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano For Sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste For Sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese for topping
  • Your choice of toppings (e.g., pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, olives) for topping

Instructions
 

  • Pizza Dough:
  • In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the centre and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  • Stir until the dough comes together. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • Pizza Sauce:
  • In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes and dried oregano. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Assembling and Baking:
  • Preheat your oven to the highest temperature (usually around 500°F/260°C) and place the pizza stone or baking sheet inside.
  • Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into your desired shape.
